Devlog #7 More Production...

Hello Penguins!

This week the artists focussed on animations, vfx and creating new versions of the blockout meshes. The meshes are unwrapped and added to our Unity project. These are the renewed meshes we did this week:

We also created the penguin castle, where all your penguin friends are waiting for you.

We finally got working on the animations: The polar bear now actually throws the mines, can roar and breathe. There are still things to figure out here since none of us are animators, but we are making progress!

Furthermore, the polar bear now stands out more from his submarine as we adjusted the colours.

We also got started on decorating the levels, and slowly everything is coming together now.

This is what the programmers worked on this week:

The player can now walk up on a snow pile and press the interact button to take a snowball. A player can hold only 1 snowball at a time The snow pile gets smaller when you take a snowball and disappear if you have taken all the snow.

When a player has picked up a snowball, he can use it to throw them at the targets. These targets are linked to the gates and need to be hit in order to open them. If the player is close to the target and looking at it, the snowball will automatically hit the target. This is to make it a bit easier on the player so that they don’t need to be very accurate. If the player is not close enough or not looking at the target, the snowball just flies in front of the player.

Also, all of the levels their pivot point has been fixed, as well as their camera and respawn position. This fix will make it easier in the future to randomly spawn levels to make every play through different.
